Double Tree by Hilton di Trieste between classic and modern

The historic early 20th century building in the heart of Trieste returns to its ancient splendor with the new hotel, the result of the fusion of historic decorations and design details created by the Tino Sana carpentry workshop, already known for the construction of hotels of the caliber of the Ritz and Le Clef di Paris. A conservative intervention in full compliance with the protection parameters imposed by the Fine Arts.

After two years of work and great anticipation, the Double Tree by Hilton Trieste opens to the public, a 4 * luxury hotel in the city center in Piazza Repubblica, a few steps from Piazza Unità d’Italia, in an iconic building dating back to the early years of 20th century designed by Ruggero and Arduino Berlam and historic seat of the Ras insurance company. The furnishing of rooms and common areas bears the signature of Tinosana, the historic carpentry of Almenno San Bartolomeo (Bg) internationally famous for the production of furniture for luxury hotels and cruise ships of great prestige.

125 rooms including 5 suites, reception areas, the Novecento Restaurant, wine station, buffet, Berlam Coffee Tea & Cocktail, meeting room and wellness center and SPA, these are the areas created by Tinosana in synergy with the Caberlon&Caroppi studio, creating unique environments with a modern design and with the allure of yesteryear. Projects that renew Tinosana’s commitment to the creation of custom-made furnishings designed to give elegance and refinement with maximum versatility and attention to detail.

The furnishings that synthesize the perfect fusion between the extraordinary beauty of the original architectural elements and the design details defined by volumetric shapes inserted with shades ranging from copper to bronze, from burnished gold to black nickel.

In the common areas the coverings, furnishings, boiserie and functional elements have been made with different materials and special processes such as pantographs and laser cuts for metals, sandblasting and etching for the windows and mirrors, reflections and mirrors obtained from paints that have allowed to obtain the right balance between ancient and modern. Natural and ultra-technological textures for strength and technical performance for the buffet areas, fine leathers worked with stitching or embossed for the furnishings of the functional areas of the restaurant and bar and the transparent barrier of the reception area to ensure safety without damaging the majesty of the statuary fountain positioned in the center of the structure.

A touch of style also recalled in the rooms on the second and third floors in which the finishes that enhance the typical grain of the wood, the bronze mirrors and the precious leathers are combined with metals with a patinated burnished finish and with marbles such as white Carrara and the Emperador already present in the historic rooms and in some suites in full respect of the architectural features of the structure.

The ability and experience in the field have allowed Tinosana to carry out the work in full compliance with the protection parameters imposed by the Fine Arts with tailor-made measures such as a rubber frame applied between the existing floor mosaics and the elements in support in order to preserve the integrity of the ancient surfaces.

«In each project we try to best summarize the requests of the client, the nature of the property and our professionalism – declares Gianpaolo Sana, president of Tinosana – We are proud to have realized this project of great prestige and to have given our contribution with high quality, customized furnishings and expression of the best made in Italy. We have transformed the difficulties related to the nature of the historic building into stimuli to find the best solutions for each individual area. An interesting and exciting challenge for technicians and designers.»

History and modernity, therefore, are linked in the new Double Tree by Hilton Trieste which, following a huge redevelopment work started in 2017, returns to Trieste, under the management of H.n.h. Hotels & Resorts S.p.A., one of the leading independent players in Italian hôtellerie, a building renovated with care and attention.
